20-Year-Old Virginia Woman Killed In Overnight Fairfax County Car Crash: Police

A 20-year-old woman has died in an overnight single-car crash in Fairfax County and the driver is being charged with her death, according to authorities.

Danight Girmay, of Lorton, was killed in the crash that occurred at the intersection of Manchester Boulevard and Beulah Street in Franconia around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, Fairfax County Police said. 

The driver, 20-year-old Sara Flores, also of Lorton, was said to be driving under the influence when her vehicle left the road and struck a telephone pole before coming to a stop, police said.

Flores along with two other male passengers in the rear of the car were taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Girmay was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.

Flores is expected to receive DUI charges upon her release from the hospital, police said. The investigation is ongoing. Police are offering rewards of $100 to $1000 for information.
